NSEFI MoUs

NSEFI signed a MoU with Telangana Solar Energy Association (T-SEA) to promote solar power in the state of Telangana. With this partnership NSEFI & T-SEA will work together to exchange knowledge, best practice & information.

January 2021

Mr. Subrahmanyam Pulipaka met Hon’ble Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri G Kishan Reddy, conveyed New year greetings and discussed ongoing initiatives at NSEFI.

Mr. Subrahmanyam Pulipaka represented NSEFI at IRENA Coalition for Action Annual Strategy Meeting on 25th January 2021.

February 2021

NSEFI organized session on Solar for Health: Reliable, Affordable and Sustainable Energy to Healthcare Services on 5th February 2021 which is aimed to focus on the integration of the Solar & Health industry, in the presence of Shri Deepak Gupta, IAS(Retd.), Hon’ble Director General, NSEFI.

NSEFI Organized the Technical Knowledge Webinar on Green Hydrogen and Green Methanol with the association of Methanol Institute & Indian Wind Power Association in the presence of Shri Deepak Gupta, IAS(Retd.), Hon’ble Director General, NSEFI on 6th April 2021

NSEFI chaired the first working group meeting at IRENA on Agri-Renewables for Energy-Water-Food Nexus Security on 15th April 2021 and around 30 organizations, industries, and associations from 23 countries was part of this working group.

NSEFI Chairman Shri Pranav Mehta Ji had meeting with Hon’ble MoS Shri Bhagwanth Khuba Ji at his residence on 16th September 2021. During this meeting chairman Mehta elaborated on NSEFI activities, issues pertaining to solar developers, manufacturers, system integrators and rooftop players in India. Hon’ble MoS has promised full support to NSEFI future activities.

Renewable Watch's Conference on BoS for Solar Power Plants started with an insightful presentation by Subrahmanyam Pulipaka, CEO, NSEFI - National Solar Energy Federation of India on market trends size and cost trends of BoS which is held on 8th December 2021

NSEFI Key Achievements

  • NSEFI requested the ministry for consideration of storage from different sources with RE and non-RE components and requested clarification on charging storage and payments for reduced Off-take.
    Response: Amendments to the Guidelines for Tariff Based Competitive Bidding Process for Procurement of Round-The Clock Power from Grid Connected RE-Power Projects, complemented with Power from any other source or storage were released.
  • NSEFI requested the Ministry of Power for allowing net metering and net billing on solar rooftop systems upto 500KW for sustainance of MSMEs operating in the sector while providing decarbonisation opportunities to large consumers.
    Response: Amendment to Electricity (Rights to consumer) Rules’21 were issues allowing the same up to 500Kw.
  • NSEFI Requested WBERC to extend the applicability of previous net metering regulation for another 6 months, considering the under-construction projects.
    Response: WBERC allowed installations beyond June’21 in WBERC Order dt.19.03.2021 (case no. WBERC/A-82/1).
  • NSEFI requested for clarifications to WB-DISCOMs to accept net metering applications and adhere to WBERC order dt. 19.03.2021 and allow net metering up to December 2021.
    Response: WBERC Order dated 25.10.2021 (case no. WBERC/A-82/2) issued clarifications to states and asked to modify their portal to accept net metering applications.
  • NSEFI requested for clarification on waiver of ISTS losses for already bid projects in addition to ISTS charges waiver.
    Response: MoP issued an order on Waiver of Interstate transmission losses dated 23 Nov 2021; No. 23/12/2016-R&R allowing projects bid out till 15.01.2021
  • NSEFI filed a petition in the Hon'ble APTEL to provide deemed generation for rampant RE curtailments in Tamil Nadu.
    Response: POSOCO was directed to provide analysis of curtailments, wherein most curtailments were found commercial. Hon’ble APTEL was pleased to allow deemed generation payment at 75% PPA tariff and 100% PPA tariff for future curtailments and ordered for its applicability in all states.
